The PaperWerks Portal is your secure online hub for sharing documents, answering tax and bookkeeping questions, signing forms, and making payments — all in one place.
 
Below is a quick guide to the most common tasks you’ll do in the portal, along with links to step‑by‑step help articles if you’d like more detail.

Getting Set Up & Logging In

First-Time Setup

You’ll receive an email invitation to create your PaperWerks Portal account. From there, you’ll set your password and log in from any browser.

Logging In to the Client Portal

Use your email and password to sign in securely from any computer.

Working With Multiple Firms (If Applicable)

If you use the same email with more than one accounting firm, you can switch between them without creating separate logins.

Switching Between Different Client Portals (Web)

Some clients may have multiple portals (for example, personal and business). You can easily toggle between them.

Managing Your Portal Settings

Update your personal info, notifications, and other preferences so the portal works the way you like.

Completing Your To‑Dos (Organizers, Requests, eSign, etc.)

You’ll often see a “to‑do” list in the portal: organizers, questionnaires, document requests, and forms to sign. This is where we guide you step‑by‑step through what we need.

Reviewing and Signing Engagement Letters

We’ll send engagement letters for you to review and sign electronically.

Completing Individual Tax Organizers

For personal tax returns, you may receive an individual organizer that asks for income, deductions, and other details.

Completing Business Tax Organizers

Business clients will receive a business-specific organizer to capture company income, expenses, and other data.

Filling Out Client Surveys

We may send short surveys to better understand your situation or preferences.

Responding to Client Requests

Sometimes we’ll send a specific request (for example, “Upload W‑2s” or “Confirm your address”).

Signing Documents Electronically (eSign)

You can securely sign tax forms, engagement letters, and other documents right in the portal.

Filling Out Fillable PDFs

Some forms will be fillable PDFs that you can complete directly online.

Questionnaires & Document Checklists (Web)

You may see questionnaires or checklists that guide you through questions and required uploads.

Managing Your Files (Web)

The Files area is where you and PaperWerks securely share documents — tax returns, statements, receipts, and more.

You can view invoices, make payments, and keep track of your payment history directly in the portal.

Quick Pay (No Login Needed)

If you receive a Quick Pay link, you can pay an invoice without logging into the full portal.

Using the Mobile App

Prefer to work from your phone? You can use the Canopy Client Portal app to do almost everything you can on the web — upload documents, sign forms, complete requests, and pay invoices.

Logging In on Mobile

Download the Canopy Client Portal app (iOS or Android) and sign in with the same email and password you use on the web.

Switching Between Firms and Portals on Mobile

If you work with more than one firm or have multiple portals, you can switch between them in the app.
